Big Band Boom - Sunday 31 May

The date has been in the diaries for months and now it's finally here! The children are excited for Big Band Boom next Sunday 31 May at school.  This is great opportunity to iron out some tricky bits in the pieces working with professional tutors and in band sessions with our conductors.  It is an enrichment opportunity where all the band members learn together as a team and it is important that all members attend.

RSVP:  Please confirm your child will be in attendance so our conductors/tutors can plan the sessions. Please access this link:  https://forms.gle/4rXryZQkwVT69r8H6

Details are:

12.15pm (All bands JB, CB and PB).  Arrive and register

12.30pm – the first sessions start.

2.00pm – afternoon tea break (30 mins)

2.30pm – back into sessions

4.00pm – another short break (15 mins)
5.00pm – Finish and pack up.

There is no concert at the end as the bands will all be performing at performance night on in a few weeks.  You are, however, welcome to come back a little earlier for pick up and watch the last sessions.

Wear:  Casual clothing, closed in shoes, hats

Bring:  Instrument, music stand and water bottle.

Bass players – please bring your small amps to be used it the tutor rooms

Drummers/percussionists:  please bring sticks

Equipment needed to borrow

Call out for Drum Kit – if anyone has a drum kit (preferably not electronic) we can borrow to use in the tutor room it would be very much appreciated. Please let me know asap.

Afternoon tea – offerings
I will bring some popcorn/crisps and mini muffins.
If parents would like to bring some treats such as brownies, cupcakes, or fruit, that would be appreciated.  Gluten free options are always appreciated.  No nuts please.

No pressure at all as the muffins and crisps should be enough.  We don’t need a lot of food – as they will eat, have a bit of fresh air, toilet etc and then return to sessions.

Parent Assistance – please help

Set up:   We would appreciate some assistance with set up from 11am.  Moving equipment to tutorial rooms, plugging amps in etc

During workshop:  This is a great opportunity for parents to get a real appreciation of what happens in band.  It is always helpful to have a few parents on site during the workshop to assist with student management/movement, etc

Please add your name into the spreadsheet at the time you would like to assist
