Band Update - Term 2

Hi Band Parents

Busy start to the term for all our band members and parents with rehearsals and all the activity around the election day sausage sizzle.  A great success from all reports with around 500 sausages sold, 20 kg of bacon plus the colourful and creative addition of balloon animals and crowns!  Well done to Junior Band members, Jasper and Cleo on taking the initiative – they even got a mention and lovely pic in the Manly Daily.

Thanks so much to everyone who volunteered and provided treats for the cake stall especially Clare for all the logistics coordination and volunteer management.

Band Conducting

With the news of Emma’s situation still settling, we have been in discussions regarding rehearsal cover for each of the bands.  This is still being finalised so we can ensure there is some consistency in conducting and the best solution for each band, of course, factoring in conductor availability.  There are some good conductors who have the flexibility in their rehearsal schedules so we are putting all the pieces together and should have it all settled by next week.  Our aim is just to keep things on track – rehearsals ticking over, keep the children progressing, keep it simple and free from distractions for the children and the conductors.

Thanks for your patience while we are finalising the structure.

Where parents can help is to continue to deliver their little musicians to rehearsals on time, support your child with a good tutor and encouragement at home when they practice.  In addition, fundraising initiatives and helping hands when needed.

Diary Dates /Performances

Thursday 8 May:  Mother’s Day Breakfast – ALL Bands.  Please arrive at 7.40am for set up and warm up.  School uniform.  The bands are performing outside in front of the Mural (as the deck is still under construction).

Thursday 22 May:  Harbourside Music Festival 6pm/6.30pm – Performance Band and Concert Band.  Location:  BNPS or Bally Boys.   More details to come.

Thursday 26 June:  School Disco. Managed by band program.  All hands on deck!  Daniel Brabant taking the lead on this one.

Monday 30 June – Band Performance Evening.  Location:  BNPS

Term 3

Sunday 3 August:  (Proposed date) Big Band Blast.  Location:  BNPS
